What you need to know about TRACKMASTER™
Trackmaster™ products connect you and your business to the world of tracking. Our product range and tracking service allows you to see where your vehicles or mobile assets are on a computer screen, along with information on where they have been, where they are heading, how fast they are moving, and even when they were turned ON/OFF amongst several other features.
Trackmaster™ Vehicle and Personal systems and service satisfy client tracking needs through the use of a combination of GSM mobile phone network, GPS (Global Positioning System) technologies, the internet, digital mapping and specialized tracking softwares.
With governments in countries such as the United States permitting the use of their GPS satellites that orbit the Earth for the purpose of transmitting information Trackmaster™ vehicle and personal tracking has become possible. These GPS Satellites transmit information to Earth which can be picked up with Trackmaster™ GPS receivers/modems and with information from at least three satellites in the sky the Trackmaster™ GPS receiver can calculate its position on the surface of the earth to 5 – 20 feet. The receiver however needs a direct line of sight with the satellite in the sky which is why most GPS receivers typically do not work indoors and accuracy suffers slightly in built up areas where tall buildings along narrow streets impair the receivers’ view of the sky during tracking. TRACKMASTER™GPS Personal locators are however an exception to this rule since they have been carefully designed to work also indoors.
The TRACKMASTER™ receiver calculates its position in latitude and longitude and this information is stored in the Trackmaster™ modem located within the vehicle. The tracking system also records other information such as when the ignition is turned ON/OFF, and when other events take place.
Every few minutes the tracking system sends the location and event information back to a remote server at a secure location. Your computer then accesses this information via the internet and it is overlaid on a digital map of the area allowing you to see where the vehicle is at street level accuracy. Note that contradictory to popular expectation you do not see a flashing red dot moving along the street like in the movies during the tracking process.
As GPS/Satellite service costs continue to fall business owners are now reaping the benefits of using satellite vehicle tracking equipment for their business operations and the return on your GPS investment can be as low as a few months.
Before the mobile phone network was well established, the only way to get real-time information back to a remote server was to send it via the satellites, which was the equivalent to have a tracking system and satellite phone in each vehicle which made the technology very expensive.
With the establishment of mobile phone networks with towers so prolific, it has become far more cost effective to get the information stored in your modem/receiver in your vehicle to your computer.
With the Trackmaster™ GSM tracking service the receiver/modem is inserted with a SIM card with special identification and dial up numbers which allows it to communicate with the mobile phone network. This means that the GPS information received can be transmitted via GPRS over the cell/mobile phone telecommunication network and at every pre-programmed transmission interval and then stored in servers at a secured location. The information is then updated on customer or client computer continuously over the internet for the tracking service.
This advantage of using the GSM technology is that personal and vehicle tracking has become much, much, less expensive and provides real time tracking possibilities.
The GSM tracking service have experienced large price drops in recent years and attracted a corresponding surge in demand the world over. The vehicle and personal technology therefore can be of considerable benefit to you and your business as it offers you increased productivity and reduced costs.
